Owen at 7 Months

Owen has been so much fun these past few weeks . . . he's really getting interested in things, and is mobile enough to make his way over and get what he wants. He's almost crawling - both his day care teacher and I have caught him moving forward a bit, and then he sits back.

His other favorite past-time is sticking out his tongue. This is especially adorable when he's concentrating hard on something.

I was a bit concerned about how Owen would do with my parents' dog, Heidi. My worries were totally misplaced - he manhandled her like crazy, and she was just lovely with him. Here he is lunging at her for the umpteenth time, for which he received many slobbery dog kisses.

BugFest

Today, Owen, Charlie and I went to BugFest at the science museum. For one reason or another, I've never been and was excited to go myself. By far, the highlight of our trip was Cafe Insecta. Local restaurants make various dishes incorporating bugs/worms for sampling. At 10 am my stomach wasn't quite up to the challenge, but Charlie was very excited about these exotic snacks.

Cricket salsa . . . Charlie mostly at the chips :)

Cricket cornbread, mealworm chocolate chip cookies and worm quesadillas

Bring on the Steak

Owen's first tooth came in this weekend, and #2 doesn't look far behind. It's so bittersweet . . . fun to see him hitting these milestones, but sad that the toothless grin will soon be a thing of the past.

Labor Day at the Beach

Our friends rented a beach house for the week, and kindly let us mooch room and board over Labor Day weekend. Fortunately, Hurricane Earl did little to no damage to North Carolina, and the weather was gorgeous.
