Auntie Lauren Visits

Owen got to meet his Aunt Lauren this week . . . and we all got to see the baby bump that will soon be cousin Olivia!

Easter

Charlie is really getting into the fictional candy-bringers, and the Easter bunny is no exception. We had a long talk about why the Easter bunny only comes at night, to which I answered, "He's shy." He has been mentioning this a lot lately, which got me thinking: I wonder how his friends at school process the fact that they're all getting different stories from their parents about holiday mechanics? We had a nice day hunting for eggs, and Evan only mocked me a little for making Owen an Easter basket.

Dying the eggs ("Mommy, why are they going to be dead?")

Off to the park to fly the kite from Chris & Shana - there wasn't too much wind, so this required a lot of running

Visitors

We've had lots of lovely company over the past few weeks. First, Omi came to hang out for a few days . . .

Chris & Shana came to celebrate Good Friday with us, and spoiled Charlie with lots of Easter treats! After they left this afternoon, he said, "I got a lot of presents. I got all of these presents because they love me!"

March Madness

I can't believe March is almost over . . . and that Owen will be 5 weeks old tomorrow. How time flies! The little guy had his one month check-up on Monday - he's healthy and happy, and weighed in at 10 lbs 15 oz.

Rolling Over

I was catching up on some chores this morning, and had Owen on his tummy next to me. He did a few baby push-ups and then rolled over! I decided to see if it was a fluke and rolled him back on this tummy - he repeated his feat two more times, which seemed like enough trials to move us out of the realm of chance. Is it too esoteric to assign a p-value to your child's behavior?

Charlie Update

Charlie is adjusting fairly well to being a big brother. We've definitely had a few temper tantrums here and there, but he mostly just wants to hold and love on Owen. It's been a big help to have him in preschool during the day - he has a chance to run around and play with his buddies, and we have a chance to catch up on our sleep!

Here are a few photos from his various outings with the grandparents over the past two weeks, and a few quotables:

In reference to life changes . . .
"Just like Mr. Miserable - he used to be miserable, but then he became happy. His life changed!"

After a disappointing bathroom trip . . .
"That was technically the smallest poop in the whole world."

When he's done holding Owen . . .
"Can someone please get Owen off of me?"

While "reading" to Owen . . .
"See, Owen, this is the front cover, and this is the spine. Here is the back cover, where the bar code is."
